The presenter made the comments after the broadcaster's new director general said new rules on social media use by employees would mean the corporation would be able to “take people off Twitter”.
Speaking with talkRADIO's Julia Hartley-Brewer, the Spiked Online editor Mr O'Neill said: "Someone like Gary Lineker sums up problem with BBC at the moment, he gets paid a huge wage of our money and then he turns around and sneers at people."
