The fate of the majority leader, Aden Duale seems unclear after MPs gave conflicting accounts of what transpired at the state house meeting. Some of the MPs who attended the parliamentary group meeting said Duale's fate was not discussed with some saying his position was not even mentioned when the president announced changes in the national assembly leadership. The president reportedly said Duale’s fate as majority leader could be reviewed in two weeks time.
