In this video, Stefanie takes Waterloo students through the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) online, in-Canada, post-graduation work permit application process. To learn more about the Student Success Office's services for international students, register for a workshop or to book a consulting appointment, visit: Important update: As of December 3, 2019, anyone applying for a post-graduation work permit from within Canada who hasn’t completed biometrics within the past 10 years will need to do so. There will now be an additional question in the eligibility questionnaire that asks, "In the past 10 years, have you given your fingerprints and photo (biometrics) for an application to come to Canada?" Be sure to answer this honestly and correctly. If you’re unsure, you can use the Check Status tool to find out if your biometrics are still valid.
An additional $85 fee will be charged at the time of application submission. Once you submit your application, you'll receive a Biometrics Instruction Letter in your IRCC account. After receiving the letter, schedule your biometrics appointment using the Service Canada Appointment System. The closest Service Canada office to Waterloo is located at 40 Weber Street East in Kitchener. Be sure to complete your biometrics prior to the deadline noted on your letter from IRCC.
