Dont know what happened to the description pictures, but this harness was perfect for the hitch we purchased. Very simple to install, they just hook into your taillight power, no splicing, no cutting, no permanent alteration.
Complete reversibility was a major plus. Wires tucked right into the bumper and out of the bottom. Great product.
This does work well on a Chevy Cobalt, but I ended up cutting and splicing two of the wires on the new harness, as I did not want the wireset outside the trunk.
That is why I only give it 4 stars-- if they had designed this with small connectors on the pair of wires to either side? Id not needed to have cut and spliced them at all.
That, and I needed to purchase an extension to get the connector close to the hitch, from within the trunk. Yes, there are connectors that easily snap in-between the OEM connectors to either of the tail light assemblies.
That was quite simple. But after installation, I realized there was no place to run the new harness wires neatly-- it was too snug to tuck behind the plastic bumper cover.
But, at the very back of each tail light assembly, was a plastic body-plug (OEM), which filled about a 1" diameter hole, directly into the trunk.
Alas, the connectors were too large to fit through this hole, but a tiny slit cut into the plastic plug would easily admit wires from the new harness.
Since we have a pair of wires going to the drivers side, and a single wire going to the passengers side (if you pull back the white ground wire) it was quite simple to cut these, poke through a tiny hole cut in the plastic plug (seal with RTV silicone) and then using butt-splice/heat shrink re-connect the cut wires, following color coding.
3 splices in all. I used the convenient anchor bolt for the cars antenna, to ground the white wire, on the passenger side (in the trunk, behind the felt).
