Making your website work for diverse audiences

Making your website work for diverse audiences You might think that because your website features nice colours, written text, video clips and clear menu options, it’s accessible for all users.

But what would you do if you knew that around 5 million Australians cannot access your website? Even if they manage to visit it, they may not be able to navigate through it and find the information they are looking for. To those people, your website is simply invisible. If you would like to change that, this webinar is for you!

Did you know?
*Over 300 languages are spoken in Australia, with 1 in 5 (21% or 5.2 million) Australians speaking a non-English language at home.
* English is a second language for 15% (3.5 million) people and English is not spoken at home by 0.5% people (117,000).
* 44% of Australians have a literacy level 1 to 2 (a very low level).
* 14% of Australia’s population is over 65.
* 18% of Australians live with disability.

Whilst many dollars are spent on translating and interpreting services each year in Australia, there are limitations that traditional language services struggle to overcome in the digital space, including how the information is presented on your website. Just like the wider population, CALD audiences consume information differently than how they did even a few years ago. In the absence of appropriately presented content, they may reach for information overseas or miss out altogether.

In this 45-minute webinar:
- We show you how easy and quick it is to set up your website in a way that is accessible and inclusive.
- We give you examples of good practice and how you can reach out to people who would benefit most from accessing your information.
