In this video I will show you how to find the global maximum and minimum for the function on the closed interval for f(x)=x-ln(x) on the interval [1/2, 2]. This is a fairly straight forward process and can be done in 3 easy steps:
1. 1:09 - Find the critical numbers in the open interval (1/2, 2).
2. 4:46 - Add the endpoints of your interval to the list of critical numbers.
3. 5:27 - Find the value of the function at each critical number. Compare these outputs to find the global maximum and to find the absolute minimum.
