Euler characteristics and Arithmetic

Abstract:
The Euler characteristic of the Selmer groups of elliptic curves encodes information on the arithmetic of the elliptic curve. We discuss the connection to the Birch and Swinnerton Dyer conjecture and study the Euler characteristics of residually isomorphic Galois representations.
