England heading for schools split on June 1 reopening, admits Justice Secretary The country is heading for a divide on the reopening of schools, with Government minister Robert Buckland conceding "only some schools" will start from June 1.

The Justice Secretary said "he sees no reason why" schools should not open on the fixed date, but insisted conversations were ongoing but admitted there was "not a long time to go" to persuade teachers, unions and councils it was safe.
