12. Failing to Photograph the Pinwheel Galaxy

12. Failing to Photograph the Pinwheel Galaxy A few nights ago I wanted to capture the Pinwheel Galaxy with my ASI 1600MM camera and Tamron 150-600mm lens. Unfortunately I ran into a lot of problems.

The first problem I encountered was the mechanical aperture dial on my lens. I did not have a way to keep this mechanical aperture open, so my lens was barely gathering any light.

Even at 150mm, I could not find the Pinwheel Galaxy. I spent over an hour taking test photos and using my laser pointer but I had no luck.

Eventually I swapped over to my SpaceCat telescope and I was able to find the Whirlpool Galaxy within 5 minutes!
