Fears of migrants carrying Covid virus were highly exaggerated: Dr Srinath Reddy #Uninterrupted #COVID19
The lockdown has been largely beneficial in slowing down the coronavirus outbreak, but it is necessary to take extra precautions as it is gradually lifted, chief of the Public Health Foundation of India and member of the ICMR task force on Covid-19, Dr Srinath Reddy, tells ThePrint's National Affairs editor Jyoti Malhotra. He said that migrants should have been assisted to return to their villages when the lockdown was declared as the probability of them carrying the virus at that time was low. Dr Reddy added that a second wave of the coronavirus outbreak was likely this winter and that the country must prepare its health systems so that it is ready to deal with it.
